[2.3] Smart Building Implementation (EC.2)

Smart building implementation

The Integrated Lecture Building of IAIN Curup has been equipped with several facilities that support building safety, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability. In terms of automation, the building is supported by smoke detectors and a fire alarm system to provide early warning in case of fire. For safety, the building is equipped with fire extinguishers and CCTV cameras to improve protection, monitoring, and security for users.

The building also applies energy-efficient lighting by using LED lamps to reduce electricity consumption. In terms of the indoor and surrounding environment, plants are placed inside and around the building to create a greener, healthier, and more comfortable atmosphere. The surrounding area is also supported by solar-powered streetlights, which help reduce dependence on conventional electricity. In the water aspect, the building has an underground water tank to store clean water and support the availability of water for daily building operations.

[2.5] Renewable Energy Sources in Campus

Description:

Renewable Energy Sources at IAIN Curup

IAIN Curup has begun implementing renewable energy sources as part of its commitment to developing a green and sustainable campus. One of the main applications is the use of solar-powered streetlights installed along the internal campus roads and public areas. These solar streetlights use sunlight as an energy source, reducing dependence on conventional electricity and supporting energy efficiency on campus.

Currently, IAIN Curup has installed 33 solar-powered streetlights across the campus environment. This initiative contributes to lower electricity consumption, reduced operational costs, and improved campus lighting and safety, especially at night. The use of solar energy also reflects IAIN Curup’s support for clean energy, environmental responsibility, and sustainable campus management.

In addition to solar-powered lighting, the renewable energy initiative is strengthened by the use of energy-efficient LED lamps and other efficient electrical appliances in campus buildings. Although LED lamps are not a renewable energy source, they support the renewable energy program by reducing total energy demand. Overall, the use of solar-powered streetlights and energy-efficient facilities shows IAIN Curup’s commitment to promoting renewable energy, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting sustainability in higher education.

[2.9] Elements of Green Building Implementation as Reflected in All Buildings (EC.6)

Description:

Every new building construction and renovation activity of existing buildings on the IAIN Curup campus must consider the principles of green building or environmentally friendly building. These principles are not only applied to a particular building, but also become part of the campus’s general policy in designing, constructing, improving, and managing buildings.

The elements commonly assessed include the use of energy-efficient lighting, natural ventilation and lighting, energy-efficient air conditioners, clean water and wastewater management, greenery around buildings, the use of environmentally friendly materials, building safety, and the utilization of renewable energy such as solar-powered streetlights.

In Curup, building construction and renovation policies are increasingly directed toward supporting energy efficiency, safety, comfort, and environmental sustainability. This is reflected, for example, through the use of LED lamps, energy-efficient air conditioners, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, CCTV, plants inside and around buildings, solar-powered streetlights, and underground water tanks to support the availability of clean water.
