[6.20] Impact of Education and Research Programs in Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Example

Description:

IAIN Curup has undertaken a small range of education and research programs that contribute significantly to the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These initiatives demonstrate a strong institutional commitment to sustainability integration across teaching, learning, innovation, and community engagement. Key programs include:

  • Knowledge & Skills: Through curriculum and research programmes, students and faculty acquire skills (e.g., critical thinking, multicultural sensitivity, digital literacy) that enable them to engage with societal challenges (e.g., inequality, moderation, sustainability).
  • Behaviour Change: Character education, ethics in technology usage, and research-based learning promote behaviours aligned with sustainability, social inclusion, and responsible citizenship.
  • Community Outreach & Teacher Education: By preparing future teachers (and developing teacher competencies) and engaging with local schools, IAIN Curup extends its impact into primary/secondary education, thus amplifying its effect across society.
  • Knowledge Production & Dissemination: Research at the institution produces insights (e.g., online-learning challenges, teacher competencies, module development) that can inform policy, practice, and the local educational ecosystem.
  • Institutional Capacity Building: By improving its own institutional quality (e.g., e-modules, learning strategies), the institution becomes a model and hub for sustainable education, which supports lifelong learning and regional development.
